Overview

FocusGuard is a Chrome extension that helps you manage your social media usage by setting daily time limits on specific websites. When your time limit is reached, the page content is visually blurred as a gentle reminder to take a break.

Data Storage

FocusGuard stores the following data locally on your device using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage API:

• Daily time limits — the number of minutes you set for each tracked website.
• Daily usage counters — how many seconds you have spent on each tracked website today.
• Premium status — whether you have activated the premium license.
• User preferences — your chosen settings such as blur intensity and notification preferences.

Data Collection

FocusGuard does not collect any of the following:

• Personally identifiable information (name, email, address, etc.)
• Browsing history or web activity beyond the tracked websites
• Page content, text, images, or media from any website
• Keystrokes, mouse movements, or clicks
• Location data or IP address
• Financial or payment information
• Authentication credentials

Website Access

FocusGuard requires access to the following websites in order to track your usage time and apply the blur effect:

• facebook.com
• instagram.com
• youtube.com
• reddit.com
• netflix.com

FocusGuard only monitors the time spent on these websites. It does not read, collect, or modify any content on these pages beyond applying a visual CSS blur filter.

Permissions Used

• storage — to save your time limits, usage data, and preferences locally.
• tabs — to detect when you switch between tabs so the timer can pause or resume accurately.
• host permissions — to inject the content script that tracks time and applies the blur effect on the specific websites listed above.

Third-Party Services

FocusGuard does not use any third-party analytics, tracking, advertising, or data collection services. There are no external API calls, no telemetry, and no remote code execution.

Data Sharing

Your data is never sold, transferred, or shared with any third party for any purpose. Period.

Children's Privacy

FocusGuard does not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13. The extension is designed for general audiences and stores no personal information.

If we make any changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
